Business Tips for Young Entrepreneurs: Start Today

Business Tips for Young Entrepreneurs: Start Today

If there’s one piece of advice I could give to any young (or aspiring) entrepreneur, it’s this: start today.

With technology advancing by the minute, it has never been easier to launch your own business. I’m not kidding—I once got an EIN number from the IRS on my phone at a red light. (Not that I recommend multitasking behind the wheel, but the point is: it’s that simple.)

No more waiting around for the “perfect time.” No more excuses. Yes, you need money. Yes, you definitely need a plan. But those don’t have to come first. What you need is movement.

When I started my first company, Jumptwist Music, I didn’t have a big budget or a fancy business plan. I just started with one question: “How do I legally sell gymnastics music?” That led me to consult an entertainment lawyer. I got quotes. I asked questions. I bought a CD printer—and things fell into place one by one.

Here’s the thing: even if you don’t have funds yet, you can still start today by doing these things:

  • Write out your business idea
  • Make a task list
  • Research your industry
  • Identify what questions you need to answer
  • Connect with people in your field
  • Price out what you’ll need when you’re ready

When I built my ninja gym, I had a year where I was completely cash-strapped. I couldn’t afford to move forward financially, but I spent that time planning everything. I researched gyms, equipment, floor plans, programs—you name it. So when the funds did come through, I didn’t waste a second. I was ready to execute.

Here’s the truth:

Most people think they need money first. But the money is actually the last thing you need—once the plan is ready to go.

So when I say start today, I mean:

  • Start thinking
  • Start planning
  • Start executing

Use AI tools to generate ideas, organize your strategy, build task lists. You can launch a basic website on Shopify for $1/month. You can start building your brand on social media for free. There’s no excuse not to begin.

If you’re young, the best thing you can do is start now so that by the time you’re in your thirties, you’ve already got 10–15 years of experience under your belt.

And if you’re older? Start today—because time is not something you can buy back.

You got this.

And if you need help or direction, reach out. I’d love to hear your ideas and see if I can offer guidance to help you get started.
