Staying Strong When You Feel Like You’re Drowning

Staying Strong When You Feel Like You’re Drowning

There are seasons in life where it feels like everything is crashing down at the same time. Life moves faster than you can keep up. People you trusted betray you. Cars break. Work gets stressful. Finances tighten. Your to-do list grows longer no matter how hard you try. You feel behind in every direction. And while the world celebrates milestones, blessings, and successes you’re still waiting for… you can’t help but feel the sting of comparison.

At home, things aren’t easier. The kids are sick, clingy, fussy. You can’t even go to the bathroom without your dog whining at the door. Life feels loud, messy, chaotic, and unrelenting. And in those moments, you start to wonder how you’re supposed to stay strong.

But this is where God whispers: “Look to Me.”

When life is stressful from every direction you turn, anchor yourself in the One who never changes. Your Creator. Your Father in Heaven. The God who made you for this—on purpose, with purpose. None of this caught Him by surprise. He’s not overwhelmed. He’s not confused. And He’s not distant. He is near to you, especially when you feel faint.

Sometimes we just have to pause long enough to see Him.

Look up from the worries.
Look up from the scrolling.
Look up from the chaos.
Look up from the lies the world tells you.

Put the screen down.
Lift your eyes.
And connect with the Lord—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob, the God who sent Jesus to rescue your heart.

When we shift our eyes from everything we lack to everything He’s already given us, the atmosphere of our soul changes. Suddenly, you start to see beauty again. The small things: the laugh of your child, the warmth of your home, the breath in your lungs, the prayers God has already answered. Things you begged for, cried for, prayed for—now part of your everyday life.

There is always something to thank God for.
But you must look for it.

What you seek, you will find.
So… what are you seeking?

Are you seeking validation from the world?
Are you seeking reasons to be upset?
Are you seeking what everyone else seems to have?

Or are you seeking God?

Because when you seek Him—you will find Him. And when you find Him, you’ll realize you were never drowning… you were being held. The waves might feel tall, the storm might feel loud, but the presence of God brings a peace that doesn’t make sense to the human mind. A peace that settles your anxious heart. A peace that reminds you you’re not alone.

When we look up to our Father and release the worries of the world, we can breathe again. We can feel peace again. We can experience joy again—right in the middle of the chaos.

You are stronger than you think.
You are not alone.
And you will rise—because God is lifting you.
